Marcel 133 avenue des Champs-Elysées Drugstore Publicis 011 33 1 44 43 66 66 The French can outsnob anyone. And we can say this because they're related! Stateside first we had "you can only have 5:30 or 11 p.m.", then we had private reservation numbers, now here comes a spot where you can only give them money IF they invite you first. After it was destroyed in a fire in 1972, the legendary Drugstore Publicis is finally re-open. In spite of lots of interesting things inside (including a gourmet food run by Alain Soulard - Ducasse's protege- featuring chocolatier Pierre Marcolini, sandwiches, biscuits, and risottos), the main interest here is the restaurant named after the Publicis founder Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet. With its own entrance on the Champs-Elysées, once you're inside, your privacy is guarded by screens over the windows. No paparazzi will be bothering you! |
