Chango
239 Park Avenue South

Aren't you sick of the word "fusion"? How about Mexican reinvented instead. Chango is brought to you from the one of the partners of Sushi Samba, Andrew Silverman and his partner in other ventures, Dean Palin. In fact it's two doors down on Park Ave South. Designed by Nancy Mah, this spot is perfect for the people watching. Despite curved booths, you can see from one end of the sleek space to the other while you chow down on reinvented traditional fare such as tortilla soup and chopped salad. When we first got there, there was a funny monkey hanging from the ceiling. We don't know if the owners removed it or if a happy customer, a bit too happy from the house drinks took it with them, but we can pretty much guarantee that if you try out the creative tonics such as the Changria- you guessed it a frozen sangria- you'll also want to be hanging from the ceiling. We liked the fact that this place isn't trying too hard. And we had a REAL good time.
