The exquisite Setai Fifth Avenue redefines luxury hotels– something that can be lost when dunked into the crowded New York market. Not here. Managed by Capella Hotels and Resorts, designed by Gwathmey Siegel and developed by Bizzi & Partners, it's a combination of service and rooms fit for a princess. (Literally; some have stayed here with entourages.) 157 700+sq ft camel-hued rooms have more closet space than most Manhattan apartments (hello, glass-fronted walnut drawers for shoes), Duxiana beds, Pratesi linens, deep-soaking tubs by Zuma, rain showers, and TVs inside the bathroom mirrors. Clever anglings of windows offer a rare view down into Manhattan. Another 54 hotel suites have a separate bedroom, living room, kitchen with full sized Miele fridges and stoves. Three one-of-a-kind 1900 sq foot 2-bedroom penthouses have options to connect to other suites making 4 bedroom, 3 living room, 4.5 bath spaces. 6 rooms have terraces. But stunning real estate aside, guests are assigned Personal Assistants (ours, Earnest, achieved a fashion acquisition we've never been able to engineer in 20 years of being in fashion.) No task is undoable. (One princess is said to want custom coloured carpeting.) There's no set checkin or checkout time. Naturally there's free WiFi, in-room comp espresso and minibars, flat screen TVs, 24-hr room service and a comp pressing service. Staffers recognise guests by name. Even hot water is delivered with a fresh cut rose. A nightly jazz trio makes the lobby a destination welcoming all. So why would you ever stay anywhere else?
