Four Seasons New York
57 East 57th Street
212 758 5700

What can we say, it's the Four Seasons! After all these years, it's still the height of elegance and a reliable staple for customers used to luxury. Somehow when you stay at this hotel, you have the feeling that you've arrived. Now granted it's a bit more corporate than it used to be (they don't necessarily remember the *exact* temperature at which you like your room) but where else can you put big company groups (or large parties for weddings) and still please your entire board of directors (or that old crotchety great- uncle) with the level of luxury? Close to all the major department stores as well as Tiffany & Co and other Fifth Avenue staples, the enormous beds, glorious marble bathrooms with tubs and showers, Bulgari amenities and a proper open- plan hall closet means that this spot also attracts couples looking for a sanctuary in busy New York. Lastly they have a bustling concierge with pull at all the uptown staples, and while they're not out dancing themselves at the unlicensed bar du jour (so you're on your own to source that), you can count on them to finesse a myriad of reservations and errands for you that would easily cost you your room charge anywhere else. p.s. Having L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, the Garden Restaurant and Wine Bar and the Calvisius Caviar Lounge here as well certainly doesn't hurt if you just don't want to leave.
