When we lived in Chinatown, the neighbourhood was a den of lawlessness, but at least the beer was cheap and dirty bars on Bayard were actually, well, authentically just dirty. Now it's a den of wannabe lawlessness and the door is tight. For this, you can thank Andre Saraiva and team. His three floor red-hued emporium of louche is fun. If more Brooklyn than Chinatown. More Opening Ceremony than Pearl River Mart. More Paris brothel than New York Bright Lights. A hang-out for the fashion crowd, don't be fooled by their intentionally grubby attire, this spot is where they go to dance, party all night (it opens very, very late) and spend their trust fund.
