Greenwich Village Country Club 110 University Place 212 255 8188 An alligator (no, not a real one), miniature golf stations and clubhouse wallpaper are part of the re-branding of this space that has been Pressure and Carnival. From the team that reinvented bowling into a veritable party, this space upstairs is perfect for corporate events or bachelor(ette) parties and the like. Especially if you long for the days of the Preppy Handbook and don't want to hoof it to Connecticut. Per usual, there's country club- inspired food and we expect the usual range of parties to be booked here from magazine promotions to reality franchise type events. Rather than a posh members- only beach and golf establishment off the New Haven line, this is more a themed- club. And to that end, it doesn't come with the steep member fees, boring club dances and questionable discriminatory practices of... well, we won't name names. Rather this is just a good reinvention of the old space - add plaid - and a nice spot to go when you have a large group, can't deal with the eleventh avenue mess, and want some dancing to occur. |
