Whether the members only Soho House can make any inroads into the NY bar scene which has never caught on to London's members only clubs (Met Bar, Groucho) remains to be seen. Despite the exclusionary claims to certain scenesters lack of an invitation, the heat hasn't caught on for the club yet. Could it be that at the heart of it, New Yorkers remember Ellis Island, the melting pot and post 9- 11, the velvet rope is a negotiable illusion?
