Scarpetta Miami

Beloved chef Scott Conant's Miami location may be where J Lo was seen to get her groove back on, but let's not let that drop- in distract from his wonderful food. Signature starters such as his zucchini blossoms (done with sweet Maine shrimp, mortadella, pistachio and ricotta), braised beef short ribs, and truffled mushroom polenta are present. Knowing that Miami is second home to many New Yorkers, his favourites are present here as well. Now you can have his spaghetti with tomato and basil in two cities (for those who haven't tried it; yes it's better than the one you make), poached lobster with haricot vert and cippolinis, and his branzino with fregola, saffron and mixed seafood also made the cut. Conant, who participates in local foodie efforts such as Miami Spice, is interested in what eaters need and want. The result is Scarpetta also has that rare vegetarian menu - that's right, a complete menu, not the one nominal dish that many spots do. That includes such herbivore delections as his rosemary- braised lentils with broccoli rabe and concentrated tomatoes, a farro risotto with seasonal vegetables and parmigiano, and ricotta raviolini with baby zucchini, oregano and parmigiano. And while the food may be the focus, perhaps it's playing to the crowd that's also turned this into a celeb hangout; George Clooney, Matt Damon, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Megan Foxx and Emanuelle Chriqui have also all eaten here.
