Built in 1938, a seriously sketchy pawnshop ran at this location for years, and had a reputation for pawning anything. We're told they would pawn a severed head if it still had gold teeth, which is why it's now the perfect front for a boutique nightclub in Miami. How can you resist a place that has an opening party with Paris Hilton and which used to be a cover for illicit activities? In fact, if they make a video together, we want first rights! Kurt VanNostrand (designer, co-owner) says his 7000 sq foot loft- like space is also channeling Area (the NYC spot we used to consider our stomping ground in the 80s...) and that party goers will be treated to a "theatrical paradise of ever-changing vignettes, a palette of living art which may include but is not limited to an Airstream trailer, a school bus and the fuselage of a jet airplane."
