This American- themed bar and eatery has the details right. There's pickle- back bourbon shots; potato skins, ribs and nachos in the apps; mac n cheese, burgers, Cobb salad and 'not fried' chicken on the mains; apple pie, cheesecake and S'mores in the desserts; but somehow the place doesn't feel... American. Could it be the Sloaney set? Yes, that's it. The waitresses in tied- up gingham shirts complete with exposed midriff look slightly incongruous next to the groups of well- dressed young toffs in button- down bespoke shirts and crewneck sweaters and the girls wearing this season's Matches selections. But while that lends the spot an air of theme restaurant, no one seems to notice. Because the food is delicious and the atmosphere raucous and fun. The 'not fried' chicken is deliciously battered and succulent, the chips fresh and tender; a Longhorn rib eye steak comes out precisely on the rare side of medium rare, perfectly cooked with a string of tomatoes on the vine; the mac n cheese comes dusted with truffle oil and a bit of cress. Further, service is easy and friendly, and the American classic tunes in the background (think Boston and Def Leppard) round it all out. It's clear why this is such a popular place for groups of friends to gather for a good night out, and if anything, that's the only downside of this spot; it can get quite loud.
