Much has been made about this eatery being attached to a sex shop but to be honest, that just isn't relevant or that big of a deal. The one entrance on one side of the triangular block it occupies does in fact go through the old doors of that previous shop, but other than lending it that dirty club feeling, it won't be the highlight of your evening. What is nice about this spot is it is one of the only truly New York-esque places in London. As NY nightlife legend Serge Becker is involved, that should be apt. It serves up vaguely South American inspired dishes, such as guacamole, ceviche, a myriad of fishes, rice and bean dishes and similar fare, which varies in quality, some dishes are much more pleasing than others. But what this spot does superbly well is service and comfort. If you're the sort of New Yorker who wants everything on the side, or you have allergies or are on a diet, this spot is made for you. The staff is easy-going, the menu is easy-going and nothing takes itself too seriously. The all-day cafe that is the other entrance at street level on the other part of the triangle of the block welcomes you for a cafe con leche, or maybe if you want a big plate of plantains, or a complete feed. If you bring a baby or a notebook or a laptop, no one minds. That's the other loveliness about this spot. It lacks the 'taking it all so seriously' that hipster spots in London have of late. You're welcome to linger, you're welcome to be a bit loud, you're welcome to have fun. We hope it will start a trend and we love that to do so, they have a frequent visitor card; everyone should have one.
