Ceviche 17 Frith Street W1D 4RG +44 207 292 2040 London hasn't hit the restaurant stride that New York has yet (sorry, but it's true) however certain spots are changing that dialogue and Ceviche is one of them by being the first to attempt to bring ceviche and other marinated seafood specialties to the London palate. There is a certain irony in the fact that the tiraditos are what's best on this menu. Both the Barranco I Love You (seabass with mango, basil and chili) and the Drunk Scallops (pisco and pomegranate also with lime and chili) stand out as fresh and winning. Unfortunately the ceviches on the menu, all in the house marinade of chili's milk, taste uniformly the same. (As one would expect from things all marinated in the same sauce). Nonetheless, the house pisco drinks (that's the only spirit here - though wine and beer are also on offer) make this a spot worth stopping in for, and as long as you stick to the tiraditos, which show off the freshness of fish, and perhaps one ceviche, you're golden. p.s. we also liked the quinoa salad - so much so we got two, and that's saying a lot as we're not huge quinoa fans. |
