Brasserie Zedel 20 Sherwood Street W1F 7ED +44 207 734 4888 From the folks who brought you the Delaunay and the Wolseley, comes this cafe, bar, and restaurant, right near the madness that is Piccadilly. While reviews of it are mixed, we think a spot that takes the wait off the Delaunay (and we spelled that correctly, wait, not weight) was in order. Here, the little all day coffee bar upstairs is perfect for a pop-in for an espresso (ah just like Milan), and the brasserie is (as of now) still easier to get into for dinner than Delaunay. Bar Americain, a cocktail bar with a very limited (they call it selective) menu, serves swishy drinks from 4.30 to midnight (and reminds us of the Savoy actually). All this is outfitted in an "old hotel" setting, with the reception and coat check reminding you of the check-in and concierge of yore. (One note, it does mean a hefty walk from the espresso to the loo.) |
