Cha Cha Moon 15-21 Ganton Street 011 44 207 297 9800 Alan Yau (Hakkasan, yauatcha, Sake no Hana) is back with another Wagamama – esque spot. Let’s be blunt. At this Chinese diner, the dishes are £3.50 a plate – that’s right £3.50 – and for that reason alone, show up at noon when they open. Brick walls and beige communal tables with long benches isn’t exactly going to wow your sense of décor but again who cares. We liked the classic spring onion pancakes and Taiwanese braised beef noodles with preserved cabbage and mustard greens best. Skip the chili prawn lo mein and go instead for the dan dan mein with dried shrimp, spring onions and peanuts. There’s also a deelish guava Collins (guava, coconut and lime at £2.90) and the requisite singular red, rosé and white. |
