Fat Duck 1 High Street Bray 011 44 162 858 0333 Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck isn't actually in London - it's in Bray. But here are the reasons for driving yourself out to check it out. It's one of less than a handful of English restaurants to get the Michelin 3 Star rating. They serve scary and bizarre dishes like sardine sorbet, snail porridge and cuttlefish cannelloni which consistently get rave reviews (egad). And lastly but not leastly Blumenthal is one of the only cooks to consistently name scientists (Dr. Peter Barham and Harold McGhee) in his theories of "molecular gastronomy". Essentially, it's an experience which makes for the best kind of story to tell other people, even if you never want to go back. |
