The jewel- boxed sized SushiTeq is an homage to the unusual pairing of sushi and tequila. And experts on both, they are. The unbelievable sushi at this spot from chef Taki-ishi can't be missed. Creatively The Big Dig roll (tamago, asparagus, unagi, cucumber and avocado) defies gravity. And the 510 roll, a white fish roll with avocado, cucumber, tobiko, jalapeno and asparagus, done with a juice of yuzu, cilantro and ikura is mouthwatering. But he's also an expert at serving traditional sashimi in unexpected ways, such as a tairagai (a sort of penshell scallop) we've never seen anywhere else that he does with a wafer thin slice of mango. He also has things other menus don't have, such as kohada (silver shad), different kinds of mackerel (Norwegian, Japanese), and zuke- salmon (a marinated salmon). The maki is enough reason to come here, but this spot also serves over 100 premium tequilas (blanco, reposado and aņejos), margarita cocktails and specialty exotic drinks in the colourful lounge, including the signature Guava Guanabana (Corzo Reposado Tequila, guava, guanabana juice and agave.) Perhaps that's to inspire as the colourful lounge not only plays salsa dancing competitions on their TV screens but in good weather, they even teach it on the outside patio.
